Fruit porridge, just the way you like it

A simple, warm breakfast that you can make your own with your favourite fruit.

A colourful vegetable bowl with avocado, chickpeas and fresh salad leaves

Some mornings call for a warm breakfast. All you need for this porridge is a small saucepan, a few ingredients and about ten minutes. Feel free to use whichever fruit you fancy.

Ingredients for one bowl

  • 50 g rolled oats
  • 200 ml milk or a plant-based drink of your choice
  • 100 g fruit, washed and chopped
  • a pinch of cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon plain yoghurt, optional
  • a little water to adjust the consistency

How to make it

  1. Put the oats and milk in a small saucepan.
  2. Cook over a low heat, stirring frequently, until the oats soften. This takes around 5–8 minutes, depending on the size of the flakes.
  3. If it feels too thick, add a little water or more milk.
  4. Stir in the cinnamon, then spoon the porridge into a bowl.
  5. Top with the fruit and yoghurt, if using. Serve freshly made.

Three easy variations

Apple and cinnamon: grate some of the apple into the porridge as it cooks, then dice the rest to put on top.

Berries: add fresh, washed raspberries or blueberries to the cooked porridge.

Banana: mash a little banana with a fork and stir it into the porridge, then slice the rest over the top.

The serving size is a starting point for the recipe. Adjust the amount to suit your appetite and individual needs. If you have a food allergy or intolerance, check the labels on your chosen oats, milk and yoghurt.

A plan that fits your everyday life.
